چکیده

To degrade chrysene, a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) found in crude oil contaminated soil by bioremediation the Polyporus sp. S133, a fungus collected from soil was used. Maximal degradation (86%) was obtained when Polyporus sp. S133 was incubated in 0.5% tween 80 for 30 days, as compared to 30% degradation rate without tween 80. Chrysene was indeed degraded by Polyporus sp. S133 through several intermediates, chrysenequinone and 1-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid were detected among the reaction products.

Biodegradation of diesel oil by cold-adapted microorganisms in presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate.

The effect of different concentrations of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) on biodegradation of diesel oil was assessed during 32 days at 10 degrees C, under simulated environmental conditions, in liquid culture and in an alpine soil. Low SDS concentrations (50-100 mg l-1) significantly enhanced oil biodegradation by a psychrotrophic inoculum in liquid culture, whereas higher...

Comparison of synthetic surfactants and biosurfactants in enhancing biodegradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) contamination of the environment represents a serious threat to the health of humans and ecosystems. Given the human health effects of PAHs, effective and cost-competitive remediation technologies are required. Bioremediation has shown promise as a potentially effective and low-cost treatment option, but concerns about the slow process rate and bioavailabil...

Degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the presence of synthetic surfactants.

The biodegradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) often is limited by low water solubility and dissolution rate. Nonionic surfactants and sodium dodecyl sulfate increased the concentration of PAH in the water phase because of solubilization. The degradation of PAH was inhibited by sodium dodecyl sulfate because this surfactant was preferred as a growth substrate. Growth of mixed cult...

Pseudomonas Rhamnolipid Surfactant (Biosurfactant)

A microbial surfactant (biosurfactant) was investigated for its potential to enhance bioavailability and, hence, the biodegradation of octadecane. The rhamnolipid biosurfactant used in this study was extracted from culture supernatants after growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 9027 in phosphate-limited proteose peptone-glucose-ammonium salts medium. Dispersion of octadecane in aqueous solutio...

Biodegradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the natural waters of the Yellow River: effects of high sediment content on biodegradation.

The contamination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) has become one of the major problems in the Yellow River of China. As the Yellow River is the most turbid large river in the world, it remains unknown to which extent the high suspended sediment content in the river may affect the fate and effect of PAHs. Here we report the effect of sediment on biodegradation of chrysene, benzo(a)pyr...
